Fraunhofer IIS develops all technologies and components (like transmitter, receiver) required to build and support radio systems, standards and devices for digital radio broadcasting. Several ready-to-use products and flexible technology options for broadcast industry manufacturers, broadcasters and component suppliers are their fields of expertise.
Apart from complete one-stop shop line of technology offerings, they also contribute to the design and standardization of digital radio systems like Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) and Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM), and European satellite radio systems like SiriusXM Satellite Radio, ESDR and DVB-SH.
They offer OEM radio broadcast encoders for DAB and DRM, sophisticated test and monitoring equipments for transmitters and receivers, reference designs for complete radio modules, individual components for transmitter and receiver equipment (MPEG Layer-2 for DAB Classic or MPEG HE-AAC for DAB+), transport protocols, conditional access and data applications like Journaline.
