WavPack is an open source lossless audio compression format that was developed by David Bryant. The format supports surround sound streams and high frequency sampling rates and the files have the extension .WV. They can compress 8, 16, 24 and 32 bit audio files in .WAV file format and even restore them. Compression rates up to 30-70% can be achieved with the format for popular music and slightly better than that for classical music and sources with greater dynamic range.
OptimFROG DualStream - A Lossy Codec
OptimFROG DualStream is a lossy codec designed to bridge the gap between perceptual coding and lossless coding. The codec has the option to produce a correction file, which can be used in combination with the main lossy-encoded file for lossless decoding. WavPack and MPEG-4 SLS also offer the same correction feature.
