Founding

Dolby Laboratories was founded by Ray Dolby in 1965. Founded in Britain, the company was moved to the United States (San Francisco, California) in 1976.

DTS, Inc. is a digital technology company specializing in mulitichannel digital surround sound formats for both commercial/theatrical and consumer grade applications. It was formerly known as Digital Theater Systems, Inc. and is used for in-movie sound on film, DVD, CD, Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD. The company is a pioneer in multi-channel audio and also finds applications in car audio and game console products.

Panasonic Corporation , previously called Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. , is a multinational company from Japan. It has its headquarters in Kadoma city of the Osaka region in Japan. Its primary business is manufacturing of electronic gadgets and it produces a number of products under various names including Technics and Panasonic.

During the Great Depression of the 1930s, the Columbia Phonograph Company was taken over by the American Record Corporation in 1934. ARC itself was taken over 4 years later by the Columbia Broadcasting System.
